Production of 2,3-Butanediol from non-detoxified wheat straw hydrolysate: Impact of microbial inhibitors on Paenibacillus polymyxa DSM 365

چکیده

Lignocellulosic biomass (LB) is a cost-effective, readily available, and attractive substrate to produce 2,3-butanediol (2,3-BD) commercially. Fermentative conversion of non-detoxified wheat straw hydrolysate (WSH) 2,3-BD was investigated using Paenibacillus polymyxa. The results show that P. polymyxa co-utilizes representative LB-derived sugars (glucose, xylose arabinose). Comparatively, fermentations with in cultures containing glucose-xylose-arabinose the ratio 8:11:1 resulted 1.03- 1.18-fold increases yield productivity, respectively, relative glucose-only (control). Subsequently, batch were conducted 60 %, 80 100 % WSH control. exhibited considerable tolerance lignocellulose-derived microbial inhibitory compounds (LDMICs) WSH, as evidenced by growth, which increased 1.16-, 1.26- 1.32-fold, when compared concentrations 32, 31 23 g/L respectively. These compare favorably 32 produced control without LDMICs. In addition, evaluation ability transform LDMICs showed has capacity use HMF carbon source. underscore potential for situ detoxification large-scale fermentation 2,3-BD.

Process Development for Enhanced 2,3-Butanediol Production by Paenibacillus polymyxa DSM 365

While chiral 2,3-Butanediol (2,3-BD) is currently receiving remarkable attention because of its numerous industrial applications in the synthetic rubber, bioplastics, cosmetics, and flavor industries, 2,3-BD-mediated feedback inhibition of Paenibacillus polymyxa DSM 365 limits the accumulation of higher concentrations of 2,3-BD in the bioreactor during fermentation. The Box-Behnken design, Plac...

Butanol production from wheat straw hydrolysate using Clostridium beijerinckii.

In these studies, butanol (acetone butanol ethanol or ABE) was produced from wheat straw hydrolysate (WSH) in batch cultures using Clostridium beijerinckii P260. In control fermentation 48.9 g L(-1) glucose (initial sugar 62.0 g L(-1)) was used to produce 20.1 g L(-1) ABE with a productivity and yield of 0.28 g L(-1 )h(-1) and 0.41, respectively. In a similar experiment where WSH (60.2 g L(-1) ...

Biohydrogen and carboxylic acids production from wheat straw hydrolysate.

Hydrolyzed wheat straw was converted into carboxylic acids and biohydrogen using digesting bacteria. The fermentations were carried out using both free and membrane-encased thermophilic bacteria (55°C) at various OLRs (4.42-17.95g COD/L.d), in semi-continuous conditions using one or two bioreactors in a series. The highest production of biohydrogen and acetic acid was achieved at an OLR of 4.42...

Xylitol production from wheat straw hemicellulosic hydrolysate: hydrolysate detoxification and carbon source used for inoculum preparation

Wheat straw hemicellulosic hydrolysate was used for xylitol bioproduction. The use of a xylose-containing medium to grow the inoculum did not favor the production of xylitol in the hydrolysate, which was submitted to a previous detoxification treatment with 2.5% activated charcoal for optimized removal of inhibitory compounds.

Cytokinin production by Paenibacillus polymyxa

The production of hormones has been suggested to be one of the mechanisms by which plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) stimulate plant growth. To evaluate whether the free-living soil bacterium, Paenibacillus polymyxa, releases the hormone group cytokinins and, if so, their identity, the content of cytokinins in the growth media, before and after cultivation of this bacterium, was deter...
